Welcome visitors, regular and new, to our Church Website. I know from comments written in our ‘Guestbook’ that many existing visitors much appreciate the Site, particularly when researching ancestry. I am also aware that many of you are pleased to be able to learn a little of the Church where you or a member of your family was Baptised in years past. Indeed I have been privileged to meet a few of you. If you are looking for a place to worship regularly or for just a holiday break, do look us up. We are “central” in our Churchmanship. We welcome all ages and try to combine the very best of Traditional and Modern within the Liturgy. |

I am pleased to introduce to you the other members of my Staff Team. Together we aim to enable one another and the community to explore their relationship with God. You may meet any or all of them when you visit us. We are blessed with the ministries of The Reverend Martin Jacques, Assistant Curate, The Reverend Janet Tully Assistant Priest. Sue Waller our Pastoral Assistant, Tracey Margrave our Youth Minister; together with Pam Grottick and Peter Rowden our Licensed Readers. Restoration and Re-ordering This Church has been a centre for worship for over 950 years. During that time there have been many changes both in styles of worship and the setting in which they have taken place. The Parochial Church Council has taken the decision that the time has come for us to add some facilities and enhance our building in order to keep up with the 21st century and to encourage the enquirer to explore worship with us. I hasten to add that we are not planning to change the material fabric of this Ancient Parish Church but to enhance the interior of the west end by removing some of the redundant pews and constructing a kitchen facility for refreshments between and after services and a toilet with access for the disabled. This surmounted by a gallery for a myriad of uses. In addition to this construction we are planning to move the Font to a position where it can be seen as one enters the building through a restored South Porch. It is hoped to make the Church more “Secular user friendly” and to change what can be a “forbidding” entrance to the unknown into something that will be more easily entered by the more timorous among us. |

This will not be achieved without a great deal of Prayer. Please Pray for us. Neither will it be achieved without a great deal of money; approximately £275,000. We have already raised over half of this total. If you, or your Church would like to help in any way please leave your suggestion in our guestbook. If you would like to make a donation in thanksgiving for the past or present, or indeed in anticipation of the future please send it to St John’s Parish Church, Victoria Road, Margate, Kent, England, CT9 1LN. |
